ameliaw - is this a family trip or one that you planned for yourself?  i take it family.  why not just disappear to a piano teacher's house - call at the moment they are leaving for departure...tell them you are staying home and need the peace and quiet to practice.  and, if they come and try to get you - hide in the cellar.

of course, this is assuming that you don't want to go to disneyland for 10 days and your piano teacher will let you in and provide shelter until everyone leaves and you can go back home.  perhaps, so as not to get your teacher in trouble - just don't say where you are but that you are safe with someone they know.

or - maybe it's time to get a portable keyboard.  although i'd hate to lose one of those at a hotel.  security is always an issue with hotels.  i've heard never to leave one's valuables in a hotel room.  maybe if you kept it in your car (assuming it wouldn't overheat) in the trunk - it would be alright?  you get it out in the evening and practice.

And what pieces would you request?  :)

Well, something(s) original, for sure.  Feinberg 6th sonata.  Rach preludes, Op 32, nos V and XIII.  A Mozart sonata; something that has humor.  A couple of quick-paced Scarlatti sonatas.  Maybe a Debussy or Ravel.  A few selections from Schumann's "Kinderscenen" ...

and then whatever else might be up the sleeve... of course I would want some kind of complete surprise ... maybe something "edgy" ... A lot of Improv mixed in all over the place ...

you know, basically it's an all-nighter  ;) ... in between calm but meaningful conversations (some of them longer than others) and an occasional step outside for fresh air.

That's it  ;D !!
