What do you wish you were doing right now ?
on: July 15, 2007, 10:27:27 PM
And why aren't you ?

I wish I were hiking in the forest.  I am not right now because I truly don't have time before rehearsal, but I haven't been in so long because I can never seem to justify leaving the house (and my music study) long enough to do it... but, I KNOW that I need it.  And, I think that if I got regular exercise again, it would actually help my life instead of hinder it.

Doing exactly what I'm doing, relaxing.  This weekend was a tad crazy.

Next weekend I'll be hiking in the forest ;D  It'll be my birthday and I want to be on top of a mountain.  Sometimes ya just gotta slack the music for a day m1469.

I am doing what I want today as I'm not at work! Hurrah! so, will drop in to see my parents this morning, then go on to York where I'm staying the night, and spend some time in its mueseums and hopefully a concert at the Minster tonight. Terribly civilised...

Although, it's far too long since I've headed off somewhere interesting with my camera kit. That's about money, mostly. I was going to go to Japan next spring for that but I just can't afford the trip I want to do... so have booked to go to western Scotland instead which I'm really looking forward to.

I wish i was on a remote island, with just a snooker table, a piano, my favourite banjo and Sarah Michelle Gellar for company.

The reason i am not doing this, is because i am sitting in my living room writing crap on here.

I am wishing I were in a tropical ocean, snorkling near the shoreline.

I'm not doing it because I feel tied down to where I am at and what I am doing here -- I guess imagining it is enough for now, while I live the other stuff that I also want to be doing  ;).

I wish I could be sleeping right now.

I don't know why I can't ... I haven't been sleeping a lot lately (my mind is just too busy, it seems) ... I think I need some fresh air and exercise to clear my mind.

don't kill yourself.  as someone once told me - this is just 'one moment in time.'  not all moments are bad.  and morning is an especially bad time to make a decision.  a lot of people who have morning depression can be cured when a few brain hormones work properly.  go outside this morning with a cup of coffee and walk around the block. (or drink some oj before you go).  take a walk.  just feel the things that 'are.'  don't worry about 'doing.'

Yes, the sheer size of your countrymen attests to that.

As for the "my friend" reference, I was using it as a figure of speech. I didn't mean to get you excited.

mayla, who is walter?  ohhhh.  walter ramseytheii.  ok.  he just made small talk.  i can't see him eating fried chicken for real.  i don't think he eats bbq ribs either.  give him a glass of wine and be done with it.  although, you could ask him about God after he drinks it and see if he gives a different response after one or two glasses.  *considers new ways of preaching the gospel.

i wish i were at the local cycling shop.  they are advertising 'french pastries.'  why am i not at the cycling shop.  well...my son is turning 18 today and we are going to eat ice-cream cake at coldstone's creamery.

No, no, no.  I will give him fried chicken (it's actually a bit different), roasted whole new-potatoes and blanched asparagus spears.  And, I will give him amber beer instead of wine.

oysters on the half shell as an appetizer :).

No, unfortunately I didn't get my garden in this year.  I am thinking about doing some Fall crops, though ... is rhubarb a Fall crop ?  I know I can do lettuce and spinach and chard and peapods and green beans ?  pumpkins ? -- did pumpkins need to start already ?

I wish I were weeding my garden.

*today I am just sleep walking through the day* *exhausted*

I wish I had the day off from everything, I wish I were hiding.

ps-- I am happy that you like the meal :).

You've missed rhubarb for this year I think - my parents' crop got picked about three weeks ago. I've never acquired a taste for it, which is practically sacriligious here as I live well inside the Rhubarb Triangle, here in Yorkshire... hmm, possibly ought to hide after admitting that...

Lol! The Rhubarb Triangle is an area in Yorkshire that lies roughly between Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford, and at one point 90% of the world's commercial rhubarb was grown there. It's all terribly cloak and dagger, it's grown by candlelight and strangers aren't welcome in the growing sheds in case they steal trade secrets or upset the plants...

perfect 'who dun it' material.  unfortunately i've not written in that genre.  might try, though.  tonight i shall set my hand to my first novel entitled 'the rhubarb triangle.'

it will start out something like this:

'the center of this twisted plot will not actually be the rhubarb itself, but the theories behind growing it.  for many 'outsiders' - 'the rhubarb triangle' sounds like a mathematic construct.  but, inside the forced sheds where rhubarb growers linger with their gardening secrets - the triangle holds a mysterious power over each 'recipie' for tender shoots that will be cut in the dark by the end of march - to preserve the mystery of how they come to shoot up between february and march as though they were meant to be a sort of ill bred weed.

whitney millbrook - the slightly obese but always proper rhubarb expert of four generations of rhubarb growers begins with her great -great-great grandfather's first travels to siberia to gather rhubarb seeds and the great plot to take over the world's rhubarb production.

Whitney must be an American moved to Yorkshire, or her father must have married an American or something. It's very definitely not a Yorkshire name... But I love the idea of world domination via rhubarb! It'll all end in tears...

Instead of working everyday for 15 hours a day since last Friday, demolishing ceiling and cheaseling plaster off the wall to expose the brick in the bathroom; rerouting plumbing, soldering a new copper pipes; cutting off part of the wall and building a new one; sanding and filling gaps in the floor, as well as pickling cucumbers and tomato from the garden in between flame wars with Opus 10/2,
I wish I'd seat on my porch, having my favorite Fuente with a nice bottle of Rioja. That whould've been  8).
