Need ideas for an open spot on my program
on: July 20, 2007, 03:27:01 PM
Well, I've been tweaking my  program and have landed on this. The only thing is what to put after intermission, before the Polonaise. Suggest away!

Bach's Fantasia in C minor, BWV 906

Rachmaninov's trans. of Bach's Partita for Violin Solo No.3 in E major, BWV 1006

Rachmaninov's Prelude in D major, Opus 23 No. 4
Rachmaninov's Prelude in G minor, Opus 23 No. 5

Intermission

Set of Szymanowski Mazurkas? Ginastera's Danzas Argentinas? Something else?

Chopin's Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Opus 44

Thanks,
Steve

I thought you were gonna play your Haydn Sonata in b minor? add that in...
J.S Bach Italian Concerto,Beethoven Sonata op.2 no.2,Mozart Sonatas K.330&333,Chopin Scherzo no.2,Etude op.10 no.12&Fantasie Impromptu

Hey there amelialw...I was thinking it would be nice to make the second half thematic with something more "dance-like" and modern...do you think the Haydn goes well with the Polonaise? I feel doubtful about it...

why not place your 2 Rachmaninoff preludes before you chopin polonaise, that would go nicely together and then place your haydn after your Rachmaninov's trans. of Bach's Partita for Violin Solo No.3 in E major, BWV 1006    How does that sound to you?

For something contrasting, maybe play several of Granados' Danzas Espanolas or his Valses Poeticos?

If you need to do this soon..... Maybe the first brahms ballade? It's pretty easy. If you want to do something really really really contrasting, you could do Gottschalks banjo.... That's a sweet piece, although it might upstage the polonaise... Or you could do a brahms intermezzo... Those are short and sweet... Opus 119 no 3 in c major is pretty cool. or you could do the rhapsody from that opus... also cool. Wow... I suggested a lot of brahms...  As for those haydn suggestions.... Ewwwww... Haydn.... Lol... jk... Do the banjo... hahahaha. https://youtube.com/watch?v=gYxr8w9Y6as Here's a performance by a friend of mine... That room isn't put together very well acoustically, so the performance sounds week dynamically. but good performance otherwise.
