Need ideas for an open spot on my program
on: July 20, 2007, 03:28:57 PM
Well, I've been tweaking my  program and have landed on this. The only thing is what to put after intermission, before the Polonaise. Suggest away!

Bach's Fantasia in C minor, BWV 906

Rachmaninov's trans. of Bach's Partita for Violin Solo No.3 in E major, BWV 1006

Rachmaninov's Prelude in D major, Opus 23 No. 4
Rachmaninov's Prelude in G minor, Opus 23 No. 5

Intermission

Set of Szymanowski Mazurkas? Ginastera's Danzas Argentinas? Something else?

Chopin's Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Opus 44

Thanks,
Steve

speaking of Ginastera, I would suggest his Danzas Criollas. The most difficult (last) movement is no more technically difficult than the third Argentine dance. I find them very beautiful, and at the same time you are playing five movements, each is which is completely different than the next.

How about Beethoven's Polonaise Opus 89?
