According to the Mayan calender, the world will be ending in 2012. :o

So do all the things that you want to do before time runs out!

Greetings

First of all, if a calendar stops, it simply means no one has filled in any more of it. Do we have a current calendar for future years?

Newton may have set a date, but so has Nostradamus and a bunch of other folks.

Simply put, unless any events are organized, there is no logical reason for the world to end at any date, simply because according to nature, things simply don't die within a short period of time. If you are talking about a disaster such as a giant meteor strike, then it might as well hit at any other random date.

Precisely!

In fact, people have been setting dates for a long time and those dates have been coming and going... and passing with no ending of the world.

Yes. If God is either a supernatural entity or an extraterrestial entity who somehow got tired of Earth people constantly raping and killing each other wanted to get rid of Earth, then it's another story. However, the likelihood of that happening versus a natural event is relatively small in my opinion, as any intelligent entity would simply have no desire to put an end to humanity. Just because lions hunt zebras and the zebras may dislike the lions, do we eliminate all the lions to save all the zebras?

The Mayan calender doesn't say that. It's a new counting cycle starting.

It's like saying our calender says the world will end at the end of 2000, or 3000 or 4000 or 10,000.
