You can do that with programs like sibelius and a midi keyboard. Never tried it though...

If you want to do it the cheap way, you need to get a free MIDI software program (download.com will work), then connect your keyboard to the computer as a MIDI connection.  Record and save file as a MIDI sequence.  Then import that MIDI file into any program like Finale or Sibelius.  There are free notation programs as well, but I'm not sure which ones support MIDI.

The problem with doing it this way is that you may find it spells the notes enharmonically from what is easy to read, and maybe the rhythm will not be easy to read either.  Some editing will be needed.

So if I use the Sibelius I still have to use MIDI or NOT? Is there anyway to go directly from my piano  to Sibelius or else ? THX

Not sure.  I know you can enter notes via MIDI for Finale -- there might be a plugin you could use that would accomplish what you want.  I've never used Sibelius, so I couldn't say about that one.

I thought you were saying you didn't have the programs or money to buy them.  That's why i offered an inexpensive alternative.

OK. I just uninstalled Sibelius, and the other MIDI-oriented
programs still don't work.

I didn't mention it, but this happened to me once before,
about 10 months ago, for the same reason, and then too,
I had to re-install Windows, then re-install all my other
software.

FOrtunately, I have another fully-loaded computer to use while
I re-build this one. That's why I keep the second one.

I'm a big fan of Sibelius. This won't stop me from recommending
it. But I WILL warn people that they had better at least have
a backup computer, as I do, or even better, keep one computer
just to use Sibelius, so that it doesn't screw up the system for
all the other programs.

The two worst things a program can do are:

1) Corrupt data
2) Corrupt the system.

After read couple postes from sibelius forum I'm CHICKEN OUT about this program.  ::) ::) ::) :-[ :-[ :-* :-*. If I have to reload my WinOS and call Windows for ask them to reload my S/N for Win OS. I don't think SO
