Brass Pedal Cleaner??
on: July 25, 2007, 02:31:47 AM
I've had my piano for about a week, and it was perfect when it got to my house. I used the brass pedals once (barefooted), and  they look old already! Is there a way to clean the pedals to make them look new again? I'll definitely be playing with socks from now on.... it'll be hard since it's summer though.

Playing in socks is the way to go.  It's what I do.  My Baldwin grand is 24 years old, but the brass pedal surfaces look new.

BRASSO is the best cleaner. In future do wear socks, as the quality of the brass/finish on your piano seems to be not quite up to the mark. Brass pedals should not normally turn bad so quickly.

Ahhh how did you play in bare feet, it feels really odd, uncomfortable and dirty to me.  ;D

If it's lacquered, you can use Pledge to polish the brass and make it all nice and shiny.

Wear chamois socks when playing to buff them up as well! ;D ;D ;D
