hi all, i was wondering if any of you could help with programming?

i have 15 minutes in this round, and there must be a piece written in the last 10 years.

So far i have:

Brahms A major intermezzo op. 118    - 5:00
Ravel Alborada del gracioso                 - 6:30

if anyone knew of either:

any good classical/baroque pieces that last 2:00 and under

or of any 2-3 minute pieces written in the last 10 years that arent too hard to learn?

what is your max time you could have? cauz it's really hard to think of a good baroque/classical piece that is shorter then 2 mins, even if you take just 1 movement

Just some suggestions.  They're all short-ish, but you're not gonna be able to find anything that's 3 minutes except a Ligeti Etude Book III and I think that might be TOO short.

Vine Sonata No. 3

That cannot be performed by anyone except Elizabeth Schumann until November 2007. Also, it is too long. It is about 20 minutes long. I was at the premiere. It would be a really nice choice otherwise.

One of the short Dusapin etudes might be good, but they are difficult. I just got the sheetmusic for them and they are a lot harder than they sound.

Carter's Retrouvailles would be good as well. Also, maybe take a look at Vine's Anne Landa Preludes, which are very short and good. Not difficult, either.

For the classical work, why not play the Gigue in G major by Mozart.

oh yeah, Gigue in G major by Mozart is less then 2 minutes. I learnt that for my grade 7 ABRSM.

Carl Vine's Anne Landa Preludes are very tiny. There are 12 of them, and the average length is 2 minutes each. Some are shorter and some are longer. Those would do the trick. And they were written in 2006, so are very fresh also. They're also very approachable, tonal, and not that difficult. Faber Music is the publisher.

All of soliloquy's options are too long and, in some cases, outlandishly difficult.

No way, just do practically any Scarlatti sonata without the repeats!



And play very fast.

for the classical piece, why not try the 3rd mvt of Haydn's sonata in E Hob. XVI/31? its short, quick and nice on the ear.
