i am no weather forcaster, but i was just remembering back when bob asked about what each of us would predict if we were predictors.  i said 'hail in july.'  well, guess what!  severe thunderstorms with chance of large hail.  hmm.  i'm just wondering if i should go into business.  although farmer's almanac has been showing odd weather patterns for a while, now, too.

don't know what promted me to say 'hail in july.' perhaps God is helping my predictions.  although i wouldn't wish hail on anyone.  it's just that unstable airmasses caused a bout of cool nice air several days ago (flow from canada).  but, now we've got this moist air and supposedly high winds tonight.

Yes, tonight is the moment. The return of Christ.

hail in july isn't exactly predictable - although i believe in the last few years there have been some mid-summer hail incidents.

I do not think that Thal was referring to your mention of hail when reminding you of your predictability; clearly, this reminder was all about God and your almost constant recourse to reference to Him.

"As soon
Seek roses in December - ice in June"

as Byron has it - yet we have all more recently seen both these things in climes where they'd have been almost unimaginable to Byron himself in his day.

But you just won't leave God out of your posts, will you! Sometimes when I've seen a particularly large amount of this God-promoting stuff I cannot help but think that one of the best things about God is that He is the honoured dedicatee of what there is of Bruckner's Ninth Symphony...

How is any of this relevant to this forum?

There has been an immense amount of rain in the UK and many parts are flooded.

The situation is so bad that the leader of the Conserative Party went on a trip to Africa to see if they needed any help, whilst ignoring the plight of his own countryman. What a tosser.

Such is the state of our water system, i fully expect there to be a hosepipe ban in September.

I remember the discussion about Kartina.

While those parts in the UK are flooded crime actually decreases.

He didn't ignore that, actually. He has a constitutency that has itself been affected by the flooding and he went out to spend time meeting people there before departing for Africa, which is rather more than the Prime Minster did - in fact, I was almost reminded by this of a comment following 9/11 when Bill Clinton was on the scene pretty sharpish and someone apparently said "OK, so the President's here, so where's George Bush?"...

Or even next week, perhaps. The problem here is that our water supply, sewerage, storm drain, flood drain and gas conduits are almost all 19th century and falling apart and it has been estimated (though with quite how much accuracy I cannot say) that the total cost of replacing the lot would be equivalent to many thousands of Channel Tunnels - if that sounds fatuous, just try to imagine the cost of replacing all the gas and water pipework, the sewers an the storm and flood drains in Birmingham alone. One cannot blame any politicians for any of that.

Of course, the holier-than-thou moralist global warming fraternity have immediately sprung into action with the proselytising fury of their truly fatuous claims that all of the recent weather and flood problems that have affected some parts of UK are down to global climate change due almost entirely to human activity. The trouble is that this nonsense has taken sufficient hold of governments that zillions may well be earmarked for - and then spent on - "green" remedies with grave economic consequences besides just their costs alone, before it is generally realised that much of that money (which doesn't even exist inm the first place) will have been wasted thereon and cannot then be regained.

Best,

Well, why bother with Birmingham, it is a sewer anyway.

i'm very sorry to hear about this flooding.  living near the schukyll river is bad enough for pennsylvanian's crazy enough to live near it.  everytime it floods - basements are ruined.  i suppose everyone carries insurance?  not sure how it works.  if you are flooded several times - do the insurance carriers still give you insurance - or do the rates skyrocket because of living in flood territory?  when a river increases it's boundaries it doesn't take into account the stationary position of homes.

btw, it hasn't hailed yet.  i spoke too soon.  we are slated for several more thunderstorms, though.  one tonight and one tommorrow night.  just in case anyone is following pennsylvania weather.
