extreme sport: dive from space
on: July 30, 2007, 03:01:58 PM
yes. it's advertised in the popular mechanics magazine of my son's. 'the 60-mile free fall' from someplace in space. 'space diving could be the future of reentry...' and soforth. there is a warning though: 'without adequate pressure suits, a diver's blood will boil, causing quick death. thermal protection must insulate the diver from 450 F temperatures on the descent.
ok. somewhere's in the vicinity of the aurora borealis you fly through space -admiring the scenery. perhaps a few added pounds for this trip would not matter until you reach the earth's gravity. maybe they would burn off?

You are always under influence of earth's gravity. Gravity goes on forever. It never becomes zero. Look at the math.
Anyway, if they weren't influenced by the earth's gravitational field they wouldn't fall to the surface at all.
I don't understand what you mean with 'added pounds'.

added pounds of thermal suit as well as what the person actually weighed. could it be a method of weight loss to space dive? considering that this outfit might cause profuse sweating? anyways. just an idea i saw. now, i am wondering - since the chances of falling in the ocean are very great (if one survives the ordeal of falling through space - through the atmosphere (any oxygen tank igniting, etc) - then to die in the ocean would be somewhat of a failure. or you survive and are eaten by a shark? who thought of this idea. teenagers?
