That list is incredibly biased toward romantic/popular concertos. Methinks that you people need to branch out. But that's not saying that I don't like a few of those there. I happen to love Beethoven 4, Rach 1, Prok 2, and a few others.

You're so into contemporary.

What's wrong with that? He should be commended for liking so much contemporary music. Not many people do, sadly. And Reger is not modern, fyi.

My current favorites, aside from the ones I mentioned above, are:

Messiaen's various piano/orchestra works
Arensky fantasia
Rautavaara 2-3
Busoni
Bortkiewicz 1-3
Dohnányi 1-2, Variations
etc

This list changes every hour I think.

Mozart 24 in c-minor is my favorite Mozart concerto. It's also probably the most difficult of the 24. Strange it's not there. Also, Bartok's concertos should be on the list. Dvorak pianio concerto is also a masterpiece.

Rachmaninoff's Third
Liszt First
Prokofiev's Second
Brahm's Second

No Particular Order there, but my all time Favourite, not on the list, is Medtner's Third. Currently I'm enjoying Alnaes' Piano Concerto, rather Epic to say the least!

RACH       2 & 3      = 34 VOTES
BRAHMS   1 & 2      = 2 VOTES
BARTOK    1, 2 & 3  = NOT EVEN LISTED

THINK ABOUT THIS, WELL HOW SHOULD I PUT IT, SORT OF HOLLYWOODIAN OUTCOME JUST FOR A MOMENT!

Mozart's 6th piano concerto is my favorite at the moment, although (like most slow movements) I'm not *crazy* bout the 2nd movement.

Of course, I like a lot of other piano concertos and will comment on them individually below:

Ligeti's "Klavierkonzert": I like this piece in a lot of places, but as a whole I'm not sure how entertaining it proves throughout. There are moments (like in the third movement) when the level of activity reaches a really insane level and becomes very intense and entertaining, but there are other moments where the music becomes somewhat flimsy.

Busoni's Piano Concerto: Obviously huge and very dramatic/impressive, but I find that it loses with repeated listens.

Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto: Has a similar property to the Busoni concerto, but still fun to listen to every once in a while (esp. Horowitz's recording with the RCA + Ormandy).

Brahms second piano concerto: I really like this piece, and it seems pretty good throughout; even the slow movement is tolerable.

Shostakovich's second piano concerto: awesome piece, entertaining throughout and it displays SO MANY DIFFERENT emotions.

Some other concertos I'm maybe not so fond of:

Lutoslawski's: Just didn't do anything for me, but I'm sure it has some value.

Dusapin's "À Quia": I just found it to meander a lot. Although the general sonority of the piece is nice.
