Anyone's got the Liszt transcription from Wagner's Parsifal?

Thanks Thal!

The liszt transcription is pretty free, compared to the other ones. Is it ever played in concerts?

I expect it has been, although perhaps not very often.

It is not one of Liszt's best and it is rather morbid.

The Klindworth is from the regular Schott Edition vocal score of the opera. Anyone interested in Klindworth's transcriptions should try to find the _original_ Schott edition of the vocal score of Wagner's 'Ring'. The current Schott (identical to the Schirmer) is an 'erleichteter bearbeitung' (simplified version) of the Klindworth, but the original, recognisable among other giveaways by being slightly larger format than the roughly A4 size of the modern one, is a damn fine 14-hour concert transcription. 'Die Walküre' is available from some shops in the reprint by Könemann Musik, very cheap and perfectly decent quality.

A 14 hour piano transcription, that is incredible.

If i ever do get it, i will not be scanning it. Would be interesting to look at though.

Shame it is Schott. I have found them distinctly unhelpful in the past.

Well, remember that all opera vocal scores are basically multiple-hour transcriptions. It's just that Klindworth's effort on the Ring is unusually detailed and interesting from a pianistic point of view, over and above serving a purpose in aiding singers' rehearsals.

Other interesting opera vocal scores are Tausig's of Wagner's 'Meistersinger' (also available as a Könemann Musik reprint), Erwin Stein's of Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro' (published by Boosey & Hawkes) and Otto Singer's of Strauss's 'Die Rosenkavalier' and 'Elektra' (can't remember who published either but they're out of print, except that Rosenkavalier is available in some countries in a Dover reprint. Otherwise, currently available editions of both operas are by other transcribers).
