which chopin etude should I learn next?
on: August 22, 2007, 10:13:23 PM
Hi,
I am almost done with Chopin Etude Op.10 No.8 "Sunshine" and I started learning Op.10 No.5 in May but I'll be done with that one soon ...ŕlso currently learning Op.25 No.9 `Butterfly`

which one do you reccomend that I learn next? I want to finish learning the whole set of Op.10.

These are the ones that I really like besides what i'm learning now

Op.10 No.2
Op.10 No.4
Op.10 No.10
Op.10 No.11 ( out of the question for now due to my hand size)

so which one should I learn next and why?
other suggestions for Op.10 are welcome too!

Thanks!
Amelia

10/2 is a giant pain in the ass. if your learning the entire opus 10 set, then do that last. 10/4 is my favorite of the op10 set.

I don't think any of the etudes you learned earlier help you a whole lot with 10/2 or 10/10. 10/4 might work.

Both no.4 and 10 give the left hand quite a workout, which can't be said of no.2. Surely it's best to go with the one you like most, and for that we can't be of much help...

that website says that the study of 10/4 is counterpoint. what does that have to do with technique? i thought 10/4 was about dexterity

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
