re-register for 'do not call' list
on: August 27, 2007, 05:36:04 PM
in 2002, pennsylvanians had the first opportunity to avoid unwanted telephone solicitation calls from telemarketers.  registration is only valid for five years.  if you want to re-register by sept 15 - you can again avoid these calls.  registration is free and is valid for five years again.  to register or re-register you can call 1-888-777-3406.

We have had this system in the UK for years. It is called the Telephone protection scheme.

I get about 1 sales call every 3 months, whereas i used to get about 2 per night.

There's also a service for the mail for this, on the side of the pond. The Mail Preference Service... theoretically it means you don't get any advertising material in the post. Works for me, the only ones I get now are menus from the local takeaways, who do their mailshots by hand. Which is probably sensible considering the state of Royal Mail at the moment...
Go you big red fire engine!

There's a Telephone, Mail and Fax Preference Service in UK but none of them can be guaranteed to protect people against unsolicited communication if they are in business. I belong to all three but it makes next to no difference to me.
