I'll have a better life in heaven then you and your friend will ever dream of. Um why? The world's turning bad now. And how would you know you'll evolve into floating brains? Hands up who gave a thought about floating asses! What if you don't evolve? You've already ensured your own survival by not dying. Oh but you'll need to breed. So you and your friend must engage in friendly fornication. One of you must get pregnant.

Hey you! Yes you there, Mycrabface, you stay alive! Why? Because I say so! >:( Because, when I was in your age (approximately) I had suicidal thoughts sometimes too. And I can tell you, I would have regretted it to actually do it, you know. I would have missed a lot of fantastic and incredible experiences. :) ( sure there are shitty ones too, often, but not only)

It does not matter to me should I die tomorrow, or in 50 million years.
What matters is that I enjoy my time and truly am alive.

I want to die.

You have written about that already yesterday. It sounds very serious to me  :'(
Your life seems not very agreeable these days. You seem to have serious problems. Perhaps your parents are the main problem, perhaps there are other problems as well. I think, there is an urgent need for a helping person. Do you have good friends?

prometheus, you are a very bad boy.  i send you to the kindergarten for some lessons in manners.  mycrabface, not every day will look like today.  you're young.  there is always something in the world that you can contribute to and make better.  think about beethoven's 'new way....'  that was after deciding not to jump off a bridge into the rhine probably.  he adopted his nephew carl - took care of him AND his composition - maintained friendships - but always left more time for spiritual thoughts as they consoled him more than worldly thoughts.  it's just nice to take a walk and hear and feel the quiet.  helene grimaud mentioned this in her book in a certain way.  this way that musicians can 'feel the world' around them.  you are feeling the bad vibes.  but there are good one's too.  you can focus on the positive things by turning towards them.  some think this is anti-social behavior - but really, sometimes it IS a sort of self-psychology.  if you are not getting from family and friends what you need (which might be quiet and solace) - you can certainly find it with getting away to a favorite quiet spot.  reading a book.  eating something (the wrong diet can make a person's depression worse).  drink more water/juice.  and, exercise by walking or cycling or whatever you like.  exercise always makes my mind happier.  and prayer to God.

I actually thought you were gonna make it, but you failed with the last word.

I would not want to live forever as i am sure i would eventually get bored. I am probably happier now than at any time in my life, but i think another 20 years will be enough for me.

Hey, I don't want to live forever in this world. Either I would find another world or I would want to die.

So yeah, 'Leave this world.' is my perfect honest answer to the question asked.

I didn't read the rest of the message. Anyway, if the 'topic starter is depressed' rather than 'topic starter asks philosophical questions' is the correct scenario, I agree with Counterpoint.

Umm. Wanna leave this world together?
The other day I watched CSI and there was a group of teenagers thinking that they had to be passed on to some spaceship thing, so they all drank some poison thing and died together. It was really creepy. They started flopping around on their beds and vomiting until they died.

So do you have a depression or not? I can't read your mind.

Anyway, it's normal. Many people have a depression at least once in their life. It will go over. And if it lasts long and is severe, get help.

Anyway, I just don't want to be immoratal. This has nothing to do with your issue, apparently.

It's not like you have done, learned and experienced everything there is to do in this world.

Anyway, there is no heaven 99,999% so. give up on that.

Well, you can love life if you only live for 20,000 years even though you are only supposed to life for 40-55 years.

But after 5*10^55 years billion years I wonder how many people will still love life.

I think as long as we're still productive, learning, developing, in good health, etc. there would be no problem living forever.

However, to remain static for even one year would be a bummer – someone get me a gun!

We may have to change our spouses every couple centuries or so to give us a jump-start. ;D

Before we gained knowledge about medicine many people died before 50. Especially males. And of course it also depended on the way these people spend their day.

So yeah, evolutionary most people die before 60.

Plus, realize that forever is quite long.

"Life Extension" states that there are only two ways to expand man's lifespan. One is to eat less, the other is to lower the body temperature.

You know what I think is kind of strange?  Just about anybody you ask "If you could live forever would you?" will give you the same answer, "No (for various reasons), but many, in fact the large majority of people believe that after we die our soul will continue to exist in some form eternally.....

Im not sure. All I know is that I dont completely deny anything, but I also dont affirm an anything either.  To a certain extent, I believe it really doesn't matter what we beliefs we have, as there is no real way for us to know the truth.

hmmm why not? The human mind is quite capable :P We "should" be humble but not too humble, I think. Whatever anyone believes, I think there is something like a common conception of truth that we all strive for.

What actually happens after death is not something the human mind is "capable" of knowing. Anyone who says they know what happens after death needs to be mocked, beaten, and/or both. That includes the people who wrote the bible. Come on. Think about it.

maul - i doubt you are old enough to have seen a few relatives or older friends pass away.  doctors and nurses can surely pass on information as well as to what happens before death.  typically the person knows they are dying.  systems break down.  now - what if we are similar to computers and with a few chips can be reactivated.  how hard is this for God.  with God - all things are possible.

'don't doubt what you don't know.'  that's my motto.

Well technically we KNOW that the body disintegrates.

Anything else, we have no idea, no evidence for any of it has been found. However, I would say reincarnation is most plausible (After simply rotting in the ground, of course), due to the matter cycle. If some form of cell memory exists, it is a notion to be entertained. Long shot however.

In regards to the actual issue. Longer would be nice, simply to accomplish more, but not forever. I don't like the idea of watching the world disintegrate.

pianistimo, how about, "Don't doubt something that you do know for something that you don't". As in, don't throw logic, common sense, and scientific research out the window for a bunch of bullshit that was written by humans 2,000 years ago about something that humans can simply not know (but have been trying to know since the beginning of semi-intelligent thought, throwing out all sorts of primitive contrived ideas that have attempted to fill the gap. Go back and look at some early religions/beliefs. Thousands of gods, sky gods, sun gods, and all sorts of BS. Christianity is no different. Hopefully in a couple hundred years the majority of the human race will look back and see how ridiculous Christianity was, just as we look back now and see how ridiculous the beliefs of the Egyptians were).

What happens to consciousness after death? No human can know. So keep beating yourself over the head with the hammer of religion. Something comes up that disagrees with religion yet falls perfectly inline with logical thought? *beat head with hammer*. Those years and years of smashing your brains in with that hammer has become very apparent in each of your posts. What a tragedy indeed... and what a tragedy that millions of parents like you are smashing the brains in of their kids each and every day. Please stop? Please?

Well, not at the same time, anyway - otherwise you might find yourself involved in horseplay of the "Games Women Play" variety (see the thread on that topic)...

But what's your take on messing with slow women or fast horses? Or shouldn't we know?...

On a recent visit to the Scilly Islands the bus driver pointed out a churchyard where a local dignitary was buried.

He asked to be buried standing up (if that is possible), so he could forever see the beauty of the beach.

Maybe it took longer for the maggots to reach his brain.

If he wants to see the sea better not bury him. Why don't they mummify him and just let him stand there face towards the ocean?
