What should I play for my exam?
on: September 13, 2007, 08:31:22 AM
I've gotta play two contrasting pieces in two weeks time and I haven't even started. Yups, I'm in trouble, thats why I'm here.

Its a test for O level music, I'm in Singapore by the way. I've got Grade 7 ABRSM and can play songs around Gr 8 ABRSM level. I can play say Chopin's opus 9 no 2 and a little of no 1, but please I only have two weeks...

Two or three part inventions would be alright, but specifically I'm looking for songs that are do-able in two weeks. I haven't a slightest idea what to do so here's the criteria, please advice on what to play, and some tips for parts of the song too..

Hi, i'm from singapore too, but living in canada now.

Lol...2 weeks left. My sister's friends who did this exam prepped like a few months before. This is crazy, why did'nt you start earlier.

Even if you pick a piece that do-able in 2 weeks, the standard will be really minimal. Won't 2 and 3 part inventions be too easy??

I don't know, sorry
J.S Bach Italian Concerto,Beethoven Sonata op.2 no.2,Mozart Sonatas K.330&333,Chopin Scherzo no.2,Etude op.10 no.12&Fantasie Impromptu

Yeh i think moonlight sonata is a good choice - 1'st movement of that and 1/2nd movement of pathetique?? it's doable in 2 weeks - but the quality of the fast part won't be too good after 2 weeks - unless you're the next Franz Liszt  ;D

No, the quality of ANY part won't be good, without unless! :)
