Searching for a repertoire piece
on: September 14, 2007, 09:36:58 AM
So, I am looking for a repertoire piece for my new programm. I played Chopins 3d ballade, and this piece was a nice challange as it was of a gooh, high level for me. So this kind of pieces I am looking for.
To give you an idea of my level, the other pieces I am playing now are:
Bach: P&F in G Minor (WTCI)
Moszkowski: Etude Op. 72 in F major
Scriabin: Etude op. 65 Nr. 3
Haydn: Sonata 49 in Eb Major

Thanks a lot!
Currently learing:
- Chopin: Ballade No.3
- Scriabin: Etude Op. 8 No. 2
- Rachmaninoff: Etude Op. 33 No. 6
- Bach: P&F No 21 WTC I

Dear Franz,

Is it Bach, Moszkowski, Scriabin, and Haydn that are on the program to which you wish to add?  If not, what era, length, form, etc. are you looking for in this new repertoire choice?

Best,
ML

Yes, I would like to add it to this programm. I'm looking for something like I did with the Chopin ballade, that length. So not a sonata.
And romantic, post romantix, 20century would be nice.

What about some of Debussy's Preludes or one of the Images (if you want another challenge, maybe the Reflets dans l'eau)? Or Ravel's Sonatine (or Ondine for a challenge)?

What about perhaps a one-movement sonata, such as the Sonata Tragica of Medtner, or the Berg Sonata, also one movement?  If not, perhaps a Chopin scherzo - I like nos. 1 and 4...

20th C?

Why not rachmaninoff preludes or a prokofiev piece?

Some Rachludes up to your choice will do good.
Or Prok's 4 piano Pieces, or his Sarcasms, or his Sonata No.2, or Vision Fugitives.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata
