Clarinet Solo
on: September 16, 2007, 10:13:07 PM
Well, it is Anything but Piano. Even though it's music-related still.

Right, so, I only recently began the clarinet, but through a combination of previous recorder skills, and piano theory, I quickly became rather good, excuse the pretentiousness.

So now, first evaluation comes up, and I need a solo. However my music teacher has refused to let me arrange my own piece, so I actually have to find one.

As an idea of skill level, pieces I've played are all simplified, but I can play a chromatic scale from the lowest E to the highest C, slurred and tongued, swing rhythm, with crescendo and diminuendo. The only thing I have real trouble with is negotiating the break.

Anyone have any good ideas?

how about rhapsody in blue for clarinet.
https://www.musicstore.jp/~tohru/images/rhapsodyinblue.score.pdf  or transcribe some english folk tunes.  just for fun.  put them all together with minor breaks - if breaks are difficult.  something percy graingerish.  maybe album for clarinet and piano?https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?item=3185095&cart=91621292790

Thanks for the suggestions, but none will work. It has to actually be the clarinet by itself, we're not allowed to have a piano or band accompanying.  :-\
