Kawai PR-1 Recording System
on: September 19, 2007, 02:00:25 PM
...I recorded this at a shop today...it's Schumann/Liszt: Widmung on a Kawai RX-7 (out of tune ><)...[apologies for the terrible playing btw...haven't played it for months ><]

...no editing done, no reverb. I am personally rather impressed with the sound quality and thought surprisingly sensitive to dynamic changes and even picks up some tonal nuance. For a bit above US$1000, I thought it's very good...

...except, the mics are placed underneath the soundboard, and the one that is placed nearest to the treble is right underneath the dampers and thus picks up some pedal noise...also, as I put it in my sound system, I also noticed that the balance is a bit :-\ - I had to bias it to the left , although I suppose it can be edited...

...what do you guys think? Can you actually notice this? If so, how bad is it? And finally, do you think it'd be suitable for auditions into conservatories and competitions?

Thanks!

For internet purpose is very good, I think. The ultimate test, however, is to listen the recording on a good sound system.
