New piece
on: September 20, 2007, 12:26:06 AM
First off, I'm new here, and i would just like to say hello to everyone! Anyways, i've been trying for days to figure out a new piece to request to learn from my teacher and I have a list of my top ones so far. They range greatly in difficulty, as this is only a rough draft and I am probably not good enough to learn some of them. If anyone could do me a favor and list them in order from easiest to hardest, that would be very appreciated!
Chopin Sonata no.3
Hammerklavier 1st mov.
Beethoven 5th Liszt transcription (everyone says it's impossible but i looked at the sheet music, and except for a really fast tempo, it doesnt seem THAT hard...yet im sure its too difficult)
Chopin etude no.9 (butterfly)
Rachmaninoff etude no.4 op.33 (apparently also no. 6 op.39??)
Pathetique 1st mov.
Moonlight Sonata 3rd mov.
Liszt Trancendental no.2 (know i cant learn it yet...just love the song :)

those are the main ones....thanks alot for the help! Also, any piece reccomendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you are good enough to play any of those you should be able to tell how difficult they are and whether or not you can play them looking at the sheetmusic/listening. sorry, don't mean to be unhelpful. Good luck with whatever you end up working on. Those are all really challenging pieces.

We have no idea how advanced you are.

Can you give us some ideas of pieces you've learned completely?
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Prelude g minor Rach, Fig Leaf Rag Joplin, one handed Solfeggioto Bach, Valse Brilliante Chopin, and a few other. Those are in no particular order of when i have learned them, and I have learned many other (those are just off the top of my head.) I know all the pieces i have listed are much harder then any of these, but I progress quickly and love a challenge. I always choose a piece a step up from what i have previously learned.
