Estonia 9 foot
on: September 21, 2007, 05:02:05 PM
Looked at an Estonia 9' in Houston yesterday; wow. It had the sweetest touch. I am not a true pianist but I can tell some differences.
Case was also beautifully finished. We haven't space nor need for the 9', but the next model might be perfect...
Also saw a Petrof, and a Bohemia. I would not even touch the Bosendorfer. I learned my lesson back in the mid-1980s: I was perfectly satisfied with my 4-cylinder BMW, until I drove the 6-cylinder. Don't touch things you can't have; it creates unproductive dissatisfaction.
The young man keeping the store was very kind and played the Estonia for me; thanks to him. If you need a piano in Houston, stop by the Piano Store on Kirby.

Nah... I've played 9'6" Boesendorfer Imperials and I'm still quite satisfied with many other pianos. It's quite safe to touch, really. Don't be shy the next time you see another Boesendorfer (or any high-priced big pianos, for that matter... I've played 9' Faziolis, Steinways, Shigeru Kawai EX's, Yamaha CFIIIs, Grotrian, C.Bechsteins, Bluthners, Petrof, etc., and I am still quite happy to play many much smaller pianos one tenth the price). :)
