Ravel's Menuet (the other one, in c sharp)
on: September 24, 2007, 08:23:32 PM
Have you guys ever heard this piece? I found it in Alexandre Tharaud's recording of Ravel works for solo piano. It's beautiful, but I can't find it...
Does someone know the piece? Does someone knows where can I find it?
Thanks

The other one? There's a menuet in the Sonatine, one in Tombeau de Couperin and a menuet sur la nom de Haydn. Is it one of those, or am I not aware of another.

Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

Those three, and the Menuet Antique. If there are any other, I am not familiar with them, and they are certainly not standard Ravel-repertoire. But since the poster says it's in C-sharp, he's probably talking about the menuet from "Sonatine", although it is actually in D-flat.
Here's 2 scores - The menuet is the second movement.

And it is very beautiful indeed, in a typical quiet, introspective Ravel manner.
