Yeah, that's an easy one.  Just live to be 509 or so.

walk through the streets of the world. Have a starting money of several ten thousand eur/dollar and ask everybody on the street for 10 cents. or a euro. 24/7. if 1 of ten people gives you the money, you're finished when you have asked 10 million people.
That is managable. It is a small price you have to pay for a secured future, because you can live off the interest.
You can by the way learn much about people in other countries and get to know their culture and thir food.
Great.  ;D

That was not funny at all.

There is no reliable easy way to make one million. Sure, people make one million dollars easily all the time. But they are just lucky.

Some ideas:
-Get a good education, then a good job and just spend very little money.
-Marry someone rich
-Assuming you are smart and very lucky; play poker. But that's good way to lose a lot of money as well.

Most money is made by investing or by starting your own business and selling it later. Both require a starting budget. One requires a lot of work. Both require luck.

Many people that are rich are reckless people that just ended up being lucky. They had a 1:1000 chance not to ruin their life chasing an impossible dream. If these people had no success they would be totally broke and they would have had nothing.

The same kinda goes for a career in music. For every successful famous pianist there are dozens that had exactly the same dream, tried the same thing to achieve success but failed and they have nothing.

Invest in gumball machines OR become Mickey Mouse (maybe Minnie).  Doing all three might make you 3 million  :-.

Oh come on, have you not learned to be polite a little bit? I'm not saying that to people who happen to make a bad joke (bad joke is of course subjective).

btw, it has the advantage to go out on the street and walk (24/7) instead of sitting in front of the computer.

Well if one can sit 24/7, one should also be able to walk 24/7! damned! *g*

well back to topic, i think what zheer implicitly meant is an easy way to make a million, because we already know the standard way (work hard, or be extremely lucky, or extremely sexy and lucky^^).

Simple.  My great-uncle passed away and has left me 30 Million dollars.  Unfortunately, I live somewhere in Africa, and need to get the money from America.  I will send you a check for 30 Million US dollars.  Then I need you to wire the money back to me.  You may keep 5 Million for your trouble.  If interested, send me a PM.

The Japanese Yen hedge-fund against the dollar is predicted to collapse fairly soon by pretty much every economist, to the tune of 1.2 trillion dollars.   Invest in the dollar and hedge the Yen.

Okay now there is a problem. Let's say we all pool together our combined smartness and actually manage to make a million $: whom should this million belong to? To the forum? Or should we share among all people that contributed to the successful plan? How much will remain for everybody?  ;D

Anyway. My idea is to collect as many pianists and pianos as possible, do a performance of the "most impressive piano piece ever" (Which has to be evaluated through a poll in the poll ghetto) make it into the Guinness Book of records, get famous as "The Inseparable Pianostreet Community", get concert engagements, TV interviews, and a collective performance at the opening of the next Olympic games. And once we are that famous, the million $$$ will come 8)

That's too much work. Can't we just exploit gullible people?  ;D

Advertise nude pictures of celebrities on the front page, but make people pay money to get inside, and really it's a piano forum, and one picture of Marilyn Manson.

Not only have we got loads of money, we've made them crestfallen and scarred them for life!

As for a suggestion. Go create a time machine or something unique. Rob a bank. Start a business that will lead to residual income. Swallow a cow.

I honestly think that if I were to focus my energy I could make a million in 10-20 years at my regular construction job...  Just by training people and expanding the business.  Treat the workers right, treat the customers right, do a good job.  Nothing to do with luck.

As for a suggestion. Go create a time machine or something unique. Rob a bank. Start a business that will lead to residual income. Swallow a cow.

Well I don't agree with the idea that people get rich by being reckless and lucky.  It's not enough just to be 'lucky' or rely on any sort of chance.  It's not enough just to make money but to have earning power to sustain it.  Someone who doesn't know how to earn money can only squander a fortune, however they may come into it.

I knew a contractor who was lucky enough to inherit his fathers company, then reckless enough to run it into the ground.

I know a lot of people who believe rich people are scoundrels in some way, but all the rich people I know work hard for it believe it or not.  A scoundrel would never rise very high because people are smart and won't want to deal with a scoundrel for very long.

We must create a product and also create the market for our product.  And, if we can put some third world countries to work, that would help too.

Ok I'll just spew ideas down;

The secret is to; give people what they didnt know the needed. That is the ultimate good/service.

Charity always breeds charity. If we all donate say 100US to an account and 10,000 of us do this, then with the 1 million we encourage other massive organisations to support a humanitarian aid scheme you will multiply the millions many times over.

You always can buy and trade in second hand goods. I make extra money this way and is a favorite pastime of mine :) You can buy things from local salvage yards for a tiny % of what you can re sell it for fixed up. It takes a lot of time to look and find the things but you can make a lot of money deal in scrap. Often people throw out very expensive white goods and there is only a minor problems with them, but they are too impatient to bother working it out so they just buy something new and throw out the old.

I have also dealt in restoring spas and building a case around them and then flogging them off for $3000+. I will buy a spa shell from the salvage yard for $50 or so, it has holes in it and all. With about 10 hours of labour you can repair it so its even better than new. Then you can add jets, color, whatever you want. Then we build a wooden frame around the entire spa. Costs about $500 for all the material and you can sell it for $3000 easily (given that they can go for $8000+). Recently I bought a 6 seater spa for $30, and I rigged up a heating unit for it for less than $10. I got a pool pump and filter to go wtih it for less than $30, so in my backyard now I have a $70 6 seater heated spa. Cheap!

I like to restore old and sell it for profit. Theres a satisfaction you get from saying, I repaired something that otherwise would have gone to waste and now it has value again. There is only so much you can actually do yourself though in this realm, you hardly will sell a million dollars a year if you do not make changes to your efficiency and get more hands working with you.

About once every two months I will take all the stuff I haven't sold to a weekend local market. There I will barter with people prices for my stuff, very fun. With my entire truck full of stuff I can usually go home with about $1,000+ profit after 6 hours of sitting at the shop. I can also usually get $20+ extra delivering the heavy stuff people can't carry themselves. Whitegoods certainly is a good way to make money especially if you sell quality products that you know work well and wont break down.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone in piano forum wrked together to write a manual on piano playing for all levels. Certainly there hasnt been a book written by hundreds of pianists, Im sure it would be a very interesting project!!

You know a few years ago a documentary on Guild hall school of music was shown on TV, in this program a piano teacher from the school would also do that ,buy and sell things in a market. He was also a body builder, he had more muscle than Arny.

You know there is a connection between piano ,pianists and the desire to make a million, Why ????, well simply coz as pianists we are always collecting music and wonting more and more music in our repertoire. And lets face it a grand piano is'nt exactly cheap, also something about wonting to play a Rach concerto with an orchestra is a little like wonting to earn a million$$$$$$$$, it is an obsession.

Something else is where to put the piano.  My parents won't let me put it in their house and the place I'm renting is too small.  I've decided that I want to buy a house so that I can have a suitable place for a suitable piano.  HOUSES ARE DAMN EXPENSIVE!

ach

Lostinidle:  On all levels, I like your idea of fixing up used stuff.  I'm guilty of being too impatient and throwing out things, but fixing them up and selling them is just brilliant!

The book might be interesting, and it would be useful to write a definitive book on playing piano.  After reading a lot of books on playing piano I've concluded that above all what works is just practical problem solving.  I'm not saying those books are useless, but that if we were to add another book to the pile it should be THE book, encompassing  everything else and exceptionally written so that it's not 3000 pages of puzzle-writing.

Sometimes as I'm reading a piano book I think that the information is nice but what I'm REALLY using is the motivation.  Maybe even a book of piano stories and experiences would be useful?
