yeah, I have one question. Do any of you younger pianists play videogames?
I'm obssessed with them, and play 2 hours a day. This may sound really sad, but it is addiciting. apperantly, I never let it get in the way of piano, but do any of you people play?
Who know?

TV and video games ruin your mind.  Dont waste your time or your brain cells

It ruins your mind if you don't deal with it accurately. Not everyone is able to do so.
I enjoy videogames, although I don't play it often since I don't longer have a playstation 2  :'( But even when I did have it, I didn't spend a whole lot of time on them since I am studying, working at least 8 hrs a week and running my own little house  :)

I am a computer gaming fanatic. I mainly play Flight sims now and anyone who believes games are only for the brainless should try starting a PMG 737 from cold and dark.

Sadly, I HAVE let the piano get in the way of this particular passion and now I barely have time for it as I get more and more consumed by the piano.

However, at 42, I do not believe I am one of the younger pianist you where speaking of. ;D

I am by no means a hard-core video gamer.  Even when I was younger (I'm 30 now) and didn't have as many responsibilities, I just preferred doing other things.

I bought the PS2 a couple of years ago because 1) I got a good deal on it 2) my niece and nephew could play games when they visited and 3) it doubled as a DVD player!

But I must say, I recently played this game called Ico, recommended by a computer programmer friend and it was simply awesome.  Totally beautiful is the only way I can describe it.  Although somewhat embarrassing, I'll admit that I cried at the end.  It was really moving  :'(

This is really the only game I've played since purchasing the thing.

We actually own our own gaming server.  Game of choice being Battlefield 1942 & Vietnam (PC).. it's a lot of fun! :)  We have an intranet set up within our house, so three of us can play at once, along with the rest of the online world.  I recently saw on CNN a new clip, "Couples that play together, stay together."  My boyfriend & I laughed, if this is true.. I think we will be together for eternity. *grin*  Video games are fun & stress relieving at the end of a hard day's work.

Because video games often throw out lots of information in a very short amount of time, your brain will adapt to that information and function faster, much faster than if you didn't play it.  This could have a transference effect for your sight-reading.

It's not a waste of time.  There is some value in playing them.
