what about morbid yes lively pieces?
i love these particular type of pieces.
i know -
saint - saens - danse macabre
liszt - totentanz

does anyone know any more similar pieces?

Liszt's Czardas Macabre is an excellent choice.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)
