odd nickel
on: October 10, 2007, 02:47:08 AM
in helping the six year old with her math homework - i dutifully exchanged five pennies for a nickel but had no idea my six year old was ripping me off already.  i get this nickel with the head side 2004 and the tail side 1803.  what is going on here.  time warp.  or is this legal tender.  i suppose it's more interesting than those nickels that feel like plastic.  i'm just wondering how this was accomplished.  is this a political statement of some kind rather than a fancy nickel?  'you don't look at your money any more?'  whatever.  it's only a nickel, right.  i mean - some people probably throw dollars in the trash now.

Well, they are only worth about 48.5 pence - i.e. 8 or 9 of them might buy you a pint of real ale in a decent English pub (not that I ever drink the stuff, as you know); anyway, over here, the politically correct brigade would doubtless have you recycle them rather than dispose of them in the ordinary garbage...

Best,
