song transcription, any idea
on: April 06, 2004, 05:19:19 AM
hi there,
i love listening to pop songs and wish to transcribe my fav songs into a piano thing.

but most of the score i see will have three scores. i prefer only treble and bass for the whole piece.

example, IMAGINE by john lennon, how can i transcribe it into a piano stuff without having three scores - one on treble(for vocal i think), one on treble cum bass thing(piano).

I'm confused.
Do you mean that you want to play the whole thing just on piano? Without any vocals?

If so then you need to arrange it so that you have the vocal line on the treble stave, above the right hand. How are you writing it? By hand, or with a program like Sibelius? Either way you will need to write the vocal line as a seperate voice to what the right hand is doing.

Hello vioguitpia,

I think I understand what you are trying to do. First, I suggest you check out: https://w3m.fateback.com/ and download some of the arrangements. Ludy does some good arrangements with the voice in the left hand part (top staff) and a (simple) accompaniment in the right.  Then, you could start by writing out the melody. This would become the top staff. Then start to form chords for the left hand corresponding to the notes above. Once you have that pretty solid, you can add additional notes to the right hand (if you prefer) to add to your arrangement.

I'm glad to see other interested in arranging/transcribing. If you had time, please check out some of my work: https://www.amadeus88.com .

Good Luck! ;D
