Paderewski Piano concerto
on: October 17, 2007, 01:34:00 PM
Much to my delight, while looking through the Buffalo Philharmonic's '07-'08 schedule i discovered that on May 10 and 11, they are performing the Paderewski piano concerto.  How awesome it is to see a lesser known romantic's work being performed.  I can't wait!

Indeed it is lovely. Before i heard it, the only work i was aware of by paderewski was that godawful minuet, which is a pile of crap.

Great concerto, needs more performances. The same could be said for many others.

I agree that it's actually a surprisingly decent work.

Perhaps he was better composer than pianist.

I think that goes without saying.

i really love this concerto.
there is a recording of it on "The Romantic Piano Concerto" series by Hyperion records.
it has many memorable melodies and colorful orchestrastion.
the piano part is a bit down (not much presence of piano sometimes) though... it's sounds more a concerto for orchestra and piano than a concerto for piano and orchestra
