Scariest score
on: April 07, 2004, 03:53:39 AM
What is the scariest piano score you have ever seen? Is there any Xenakis, Ligeti, Godowsky, Boulez, or Ives available free online just to look at?

the scariest score i have ever seen is hamelin's sorabji tribute - totally insane.
one of the directions in the score descripes it - 'Cataclysmique'!
i havent actually tried it, but it scares the crap out of me just lookin at it.
'Xenakis, Ligeti, Godowsky, Boulez, or Ives'
godowsky's scores arent quite as scary, but very hard to play because of their bach-like contrapuntalism.

find some scores there...
ives isnt quite as extreme as the others you mention, but another dude to add to ur list is sorabji himself - whos own music looks like hamelin's tribute.

Great artists aim for perfection, while knowing that perfection itself is impossible, it is the driving force for them to be the best they can be - MC Hammer

What does the Sorabji tribute sound like? Is it available for sale?
