Most possibly the most moving piece I have ever heard
on: October 21, 2007, 01:08:39 PM
It isn't a piano piece, but I heard this, and cried.

I then listened to a recording of it about 20 times just so I could transpose it for flute.

It is absolutely beautiful.

i'm sorry to tell my opinion openly here, but i feel like its one of those melodies which are arbitrarily beautiful, just replace one note with another and its still ok, you know...the type of  melodies i come up with several times a day when i improvise.

it's nice and so on but nothing special for my ears, and boring too... ;)

I didn't find it that beautiful, to me it's just like any other melody.
Just like those Asian pop songs, or asian pop piano pieces, some of them contain beautiful melodies like this, but I don't find them touching.

One thing that's touching though, is Beethoven's 9th symphomy Mov. IV

I actually almost cried till the end..

Scriabin - Etude 8/12

I can very well understand pianochick93 - like with most others, when the film was released, this particular score by Nina Rota (also of "Godfather" fame) was an instant hit. But I tend to agree with term, invictious and zheer - mushy, filmy are more appropriate words - not enduring music. Cannot withstand the test of time.

Also my thanks  to counterpoint for leading me to the Tomb Raider music. Yes, does have lot of resemblence.

This piece is actually from the original Romeo and Juliet movie.

Apparently the most famous "romantic song."

It is very beautiful piece... erm, song I guess.  I can see how people can see it like any other song.

However, this particular song/piece is very special to me.  A few years ago, my grandmother on my father's passed away almost unexpectedly.  My grandfather loved her very, very much and hasn't been quite the same since.  I was asked to play at her funeral, and I was asked to play the middle part of the Fantaisie-Impromptu (because of the "Always watching rainbows" song of whatever it inspired) and then this, "What is a youth?" specially for my grandfather.

But yeah.  BTW, this is very, very different from the japanese music scene right now IMHO.

Beautiful stuff, of course, different things touch different people.

The melody and words of this song have touched me more than anything else this year :
