My first recital
on: October 26, 2007, 12:38:02 AM
Hello,

I have been playing for exactly one month and one week and my asked me if I would participate in her recital in December. I am going to play two songs, one Christmas song and one other (I was thinking of Fur Elise). Does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks,
Phillip

You've been playing for 1 month and you want to play fur elise? I didn't try learning it until at least 7 months. You should find a simle version and learn it if you want to play fur elise.

I just had my lesson this evening and my teacher said I'm more than ready to do it.

If you can play the chords right, go for it.

To the people who don't think he's ready, as long as he's not playing in a full-blown  concert, he should be able to take Fur Elise in a month. I, among other people learned it in less without a teacher.

As a beginner you're in a no-lose position, enjoy it while you can. Everyone will be on your side. They're certainly not going to be critical of any mistakes you make. As long as you project a confident air, you'll be fine.

For the Christmas piece, try to find something clever and fun. An arrangement of Jingle Bells or Deck the Halls. Don't do one of the serious church carols.
