I am curious to know out of millions of players world wide, how many World of Warcraft players are here on Pianostreet?

I have played it.  I don't consider myself a player though.

Really? You're one of the only people I've known that said they only "play" the game. Most people that I know that play it are addicted to it.

Well, I only played it with certain friends a few times.  Plus, some stress in my life at the moment prevents me from addiction to fun things.

Well that's good! Well, no...bad. But some good! People that I know that are addicted to it have many MANY problems that spurred from WoW.

Here in China WoW is absolutely huge. It's stealing all the spare time of China's 15-30 year old (mostly) men. I think the one child policy, the destruction of any sense of community, have left Chinese young people feeling very isolated, and WoW gives them a virtual community of millions. If you go to any internet cafe here at least a third of users will be playing it. To date there have been 2 cases of young people dropping dead in internet cafes as a result of sleep deprivation, starvation and exhaustion.
On a slightly less insane level (but still far from sane), i used to live with a chinese couple whose kid (their only one, of course) lived with the grandparents (this is fairly common). In his spare time, dad would spend every minute on WoW, doing whatever people on WoW do. (what DO they do, btw?) Anyway, in the couple of months i was there i think i saw their son twice.

Yeah, I hear it's really big in Korea also. Although, not as big as Starcraft. I read a story of a boy that committed suicide because he was denied membership to a guild. And then, like you stated, there are the cases of people who have dropped dead from sleep deprivation, starvation, etc...

And World of Warcraft is a virtual world in which players choose a race (Alliance: Humans, Night Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves, and Drainei; Horde: Orcs, Tauren, Undead, Trolls, and Blood Elves), and Class (Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, or Warrior) and duel other players, or play "quests." One of the attractions to WoW is that it is virtually a limitless game. You can get your character to level 70, at the most. You can play an endless amount of quests. And if you can summon enough players, you can participate in "instances", which are essentially large battles (ranging from 10-80? players) against "bosses."
