GERGIEV ROCKS!!!!
on: November 07, 2007, 10:05:53 PM
i am just back from a concert at which he conducted rachmaninoff's second symphony.
i have been listening to his recording of the work made 10 years back, and i like it, but i noticed that his interpretation has become now even more refined, convincing, and exiting.
IMO best performance of that piece so far.
if he's coming to your town, dont miss it.
tonight, again i'm going to hear him conduct "firebird". i'll be there in a black suit to feel and show respect for him.  quite rare for me(black suit and respect).  just cant wait.  8)

He's the man! I heard him conduct Shoshtakovich Symphony No. 11 a few years ago...almost blew the roof off the concert hall! He has some good DVDs out, including The Firebird and Schnittke's Viola Concerto--what an amazing piece.
