Thanks McGill. I'm very new to the modern composers, I've been happily rockin along in the cradle of baroque and romantism when all of a sudden along came a gust of modernism and as the story goes my cradle did fall.
I like Messiaen is small doses, especially the guartet till the end of time.
I find the following tough to stomach. Bartok,Carl Nielson, Stravinksy, shoenberg, Sir Malcom Arnold, shoshtakoch,Aaron Copland, Takemitsu, Fukai,El khoury, and a couple others I cant recall.
I have not given them all much of a listening. I mostly turn it off after a shirt while. I find it very dark and somber.
I did just finsh listening to a symphony by Sir M Arnold which i got into though.
But over all so far im struggling( :
