Rachmaninoff-Corelli Variations

Hello everyone,
I heard this piece played by Ashkenazy and Lugansky and I found it really gorgeous! Actually I am thinking to start playing this piece, since I love all Rachmaninov's works.
Have anyone played this piece? What kind of issues I might find while working on this piece?

Helene Grimaud recorded this.  It is on her CD with the Rach second concerto.  I love how she plays the variations.  Highly recommended.

Jean-Yves Thibaudet also recorded it, along with the 4th concerto and the 2nd sonata.
