What sort of pain is more real to you: soulish or physical pain?

then again having to get through the night with a broken little finger and no medication is pretty bad too.

hmmm. on second thoughts losing someone you love mightn't be as intense but it takes longer to go away....

I have to say physical. I am used to coping and supressing emotional pain (yes I know it is bad for me, I can't help it), but physical pain I hate. I barely agree to get needles just because the needle hurts when it goes in.

Luckily I have never broken anything.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if God gave us a choice!!  Unfortunately this never happens.  We must take what we get.

Though don't you find that the physical and emotional are close neighbors?  A chronic physical problem is emotionally very hard to deal with.

 I would say they are about the same,except with most physical pain one can take a pain killer,but with soulish pain that it is not always the case,infact since a lot of people commit suicide due to soulish pain,that sort of pain is the worst.

Physical pain can be overcome over time and with medicine. Losing your father or spouse is forever and can never be replaced...

I seem to be lucky in having a pretty high pain threshold. However, I'd say physical pain is more annoying because emotional pain is (for me) easier to suppress on demand.

No, but as a painkiller isn't really a cure, it just stops you noticing the pain, there are substances that tend to do that for emotional pain, although I wouldn't advocate their use!
I think I'm lucky enough never to have suffered really intense physical pain, the kind of levels I've had it at are pretty manageable.
Emotional pain lingers in the background, but refuses to be forgotten. Physical pain you can just grin and bear it, but if ignored, emotional pain will catch up when you're at your lowest.

Chocolate kinda works. Not as well as painkillers though.
