Trading down - sort of
on: November 22, 2007, 04:28:03 PM
I have a very nice Kimball Artistic Console - 1964.  Tuned recently.  Pristine condition.   The rub - the only place I have to put it is the the bird room.  Literally six large parrots, three are cockatoos.  I fear dust is going to do damange to the insides, which I can't get to.  Or make it unholy expensive to get cleaned, on the inside.  I've only had it about a month and paid so little for it, I know it would sell.  But do I want to????

Would I kill myself later if I sold the real piano and bought a nice digital home style?

Not really.  Our house is a 1400 square foot bi-level and about 200 or so square foot of that exists because the folks before us converted the single car garge into beautiful living space.  That is where the parrots and piano are now.

I've pondered and think I'm going to take of the parts I can and just see how bad the dust is or is not.  Then vacuum it out if I can and wipe things down with a slightly damp rag if the cockatoo dust is gathering in there.

The motivations for learning the piano are diverse, ranging from personal enjoyment to cultural appreciation and professional aspirations. While some see it as a way to connect with cultural heritage, others pursue it as a path to fame and fortune. In the movie “Piano Dreams” director Gary Lennon documents the struggles and sacrifices of three wannabe piano stars in modern China. Read more
