It is nice to hear of someone playing Paderewski other than that awful irritating Minuet.

The Sonata is a great piece.

Do you have the Variations and Fugue in Eb minor?
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Anyone happen to have heard the new Plowright disk by any chance (Thal?)? I have heard it, and I think that he did a great job with the variations, but Karol Rodziwonowicz (he recorded everything by Paderewski) has a better sonata rendition.

Don't forget the canoe - not to mention the paddle, up a creek without which you would certainly not want to be, especially in some of the more remote parts of Brazil...

Hinteresting.

If Rosenthal is to be believed, i wonder if Paderewski was a greater composer than pianist.

The Concerto and Sonata is evidence that this might be the case.

It's a no brainer for me. The works for piano and orchestra are enough for me to believe that he was a greater composer.

Anyone heard the Paderewski Fugue and Variations?  I've heard that it's amazing, but never heard it.
