my next competition-Vancouver Kiwanis Music Fest
on: November 28, 2007, 05:02:50 AM
lol...apparently after recieving 3rd place for richmond music fest with 83.5%, my teacher has decided that she wants me to take part in the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Fest next year . Well she did give me an option and despite being worn-out and extremely stresseed out by this previous one, i told her that I wanted to go for it and do even better this time. I know that it will be much better this time after having that experience finally and having all those pieces at competition/performance level except the 2nd movement of my Haydn Sonata. My teacher will also be working with me on the rest of repertoire pieces just as much this time.
So I will have enough of pieces to practise for the time being as she has added back my Haydn Sonata and asked me to finish of the 2nd movement. Not because she does'nt want me to play my Beethoven Sonata but because she wants to give it more time to mature before my exam next year especially the 4th movement which she just started working on with me and not to mention harder than the rest of the sonata.
I will be taking part in the Concert class which requires a student play 3 contrasting pieces of which a sonata must be complete if played with a max. time of 40 mins.
Bach-Partita no.2 in c minor (sinfonia) BWV 884
Haydn-Sonata in E flat major (complete) Hob.XVI/49;L/59
Rachmaninoff-Prelude in g sharp minor op.32 no.12
any opinions/comments are welcome!
Amelia

Good luck to you old boy. I only ever entered one competition and it terrified me.
My heart goes out to you.
