You might as well have all of them.

A bit heavy for some, including myself.

Not for me! But then there was so very much more to Busoni than just the contrapuntal persuasion anyway; anyone who has read his writings and letters and others' accounts of his playing and conducting (of the various performances of his monumental piano concerto that were given during his lifetime, he conducted almost as many as he played the solo part), to say nothing of the music that he composed, would likely be left in little doubt that he was one of the most important musicians of his day.

I do not disagree, but the length of some of his works are beyond my attention span.

Whilst the Concerto i can listen to (in shifts) that Contrappantistica thing (i know that is spelt wrong) gives my ears no pleasure.

Close - it's Fantasia Contrappuntistica! - yet it's only about half the length of its composer's Concerto! FC has its foundations firmly in J S Bach. Give it another go in one of Ogdon's two recorded versions (and, if you have neither, please note that they're both available from us).

Could I kindly point out that the second file whichThalbergmad provided as Nos 4 - 6 of the Op. 33b Pieces is actually the Fantasia in modo antico. Is there any chance of you posting the last 3 Pieces, Thalbergmad?

I may be either blind or very stupid but as far as I can tell there are only two attachments (kindly provided by Thalbergmad), the second of which purports to be the 4th, 5th and 6th Pieces but which is, in actual fact, the Fantasia. Am I missing something or am I not looking in the right place?

cheers,

stez

It appears that I am completely stupid! I had assumed that the Fantasia was a separate work. Sorry for any angst caused.
