What does it mean when you have one quarter note and another right next to it (to the right) just like it but smaller in size?  ???

Example please and maybe we can help.
Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen

Pictures.
It can can either an appoggiatura or acciatura, or rather, a simple misprint.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

Its probably a misprint, but we do , as mentioned already, need an example. To the left of the note, it probably would have been a grace note.
