Any NFL fans out there???
on: December 04, 2007, 06:47:44 AM
It seems there are tons of Brits out there, but are there any pianists here who absolutely LOVE FOOTBALL (the real kind :P).  I just finished watching the Patriots almost lose - which I was hoping they would do - and it inspired me to create this thread.  My favorite team has got to be the vikings though  ;D

Heh, I was watching that game too. Man, they caught the ball just a yard or two short. It woulda been pretty epic had they pulled it off. Just two more seconds would have done it. Baltimore did kinda goof up before though.

Btw, I'm not a football fan. NHL all the way.

Haha who's your favorite Hockey team?  I'm so upset at the moment, because maybe 1% of my friends at school are into sports.  Everyone at music conservatories are hardcore nerds...  Btw, I'm a Canucks/Wild fan.

I'm a Bear's fan  :'(, having grown up in Chicago. Now I live in Wisconsin, but I have fought the urge to follow the Packers; even if they do have one of the all time great quarterbacks. (Chicago sports fans are die hard masochists).  I would have liked to see New England lose also; especially since they trounced us in last year's Superbowl.  I wonder what the Patriots did to change Randy Moss from a unpredictable and sometimes talented jerk to a great Wide Receiver?

It's nice to see another avid football fan, Viking, even if you do support Minnesota.  Grr.

Aw sharon, I'm so sorry about the eagles.  And notturno, the bears are awesome, although they do have a significant rivalry with the vikings... I think Moss has always been one of the best receivers in the NFL.  He thrived under Culpepper when Minnesota had a good team, and I think he's only motivated to play with the best of teams.  Wow did New England get lucky trading away only a 4th round draft pick for him...

I thought you would like the Habs, being from Montréal an all...

Randomly, for the NHL, I'm a die hard Dallas Stars fan (I hate the LA Kings).

Ok, we need an NHL thread before this thread is hijacked even more.

It seems there are tons of Brits out there.

The problem is, when we watch a game of "sport", if there's a break, we go and get a pint.  :P ;D ;)

We would get very drunk watching American Football.  ;D :D

But how can you stay interested in a single game for that long?  :o
You must be very wobbly by the second half?  8)

If I was going to watch something that boring, I'd make sure that I was wobbly before I got there.  ;D 8)

I have never really enjoyed American Football.

The game is supposed to last for 5 minutes but goes on for about 6 hours. The amount of players involved exceeds the crowd and they paint their faces like Red Indians. Also, i have noticed that many of them seem to have a hanky sticking out of their pockets.

Its a mystery to me.

We do get some Baseball shown over here in England and that i can watch. Basketball is just 7 ft men scoring 80 points each and ice hockey appears to be fighting on ice with little regard paid to the "puck", or whatever it is called.

Funny bunch the yanks, but anyone who watches darts probably thinks we are.

Football:

Huge men smashing each other, often resulting in broken limbs, concussions, torn ligaments, factures, etc..  Plenty of points, action, and beer drinking during the game.

Soccer:

Skinny men who run around constantly, rarely score, and are forbidden to use contact.

Football is easily better.

lulz, all the talk about how long a football game is.

How many days do cricket matches take, again?

Anyway, tennis pwns pretty much all of the major sports IMO, although it is an acquired taste.

Anything between 4 hours and 5 days, or sometimes due to Enlgish weather, about 10 minutes.

Real football is played with the hands? Lol, American football is not even played with an actual ball. Let alone with the feet.
