Help with Score Writer 2.0
on: December 08, 2007, 09:21:00 AM
I have recently notated my firt composition on Score Writer, and I want to make it into a PDF. Is anyone familiar with this program and can tell me how to do it or if it can't be done?

Thanks.

p.s. I can send you a MIDI file if you want to hear it, but not the sheet unless you have Score Writer.

Try uploading it here:

www.mediafire.com

It's incredibly reliable, unlike the above site, which keeps saying I can't download the file.

I get the same message as I did last time:

"Sorry. You can not download this file today. Download traffic for your country is empty."

The link wasn't broken last time. I copied and pasted it last time because I noticed that the whole link wasn't hyperlinked, but now it is and still doesn't work.

That's pretty much it, though on the first page and a bit it has some problems with the ties,

There is another link to it. I hope it works.

In listening to the midi file I do not hear any ties that are omitted from the score. I rescored the midi file you sent, and it came out the same as the first one. Perhaps Score Writer is not creating a midi file that accurately represents the ties. Clearly, as you can see, ties are being represented (see pages 2-4). BTW, I've run this through two different programs to attempt to get ties on the first page...

I think the problem is that I hadn't entered the ties correctly, and scorewriter wasn't registering them as being attached to their respective notes.

Here is another one that should (hopefully) be accurate.

In listening to the piece the only ties that I hear are those that are indicated in the score I posted yesterday. Are you, perhaps, thinking of slurs (ties to notes on different lines/spaces)? If that is what you see missing it's because slurs do not get represented in midi files.

In looking at the Score Writer web site I see that it can import Encore files. If it can save an Encore file you might do that and upload the Encore file. I can then process that file and make a PDF for you.

I am definately not thinking of slurs. I will have a listen to the midi and see if it sounds like it is supposed to.
