My cat has just passed away
on: April 18, 2004, 10:27:25 AM
Born in December of 2002, my cat, named Cziffra (as you might expect) passed away today.  I awoke to find her outside my back door, her dinner fron last night uneaten.  We do not know what caused her death.

I felt like commemorating her on this site, since she lived a life with so much piano involved.  She frequently slept on my bed while i practiced and she always listened to cd's with me.  I will miss her.   :(

My sincere condolences.  Reading the topic, I felt very sorry, I know how it is to lose a beloved pet (I am often reminded that I wept more when my dog died than when my grandmother died).   As it is when a loved one (human)  dies, so it is with your animal friends.  You will always remember how that animal brought something great to your life, possibly more than a human could have brought.  Again, you have my sympathies.  To Ziffy :'(

The loss of a beloved cat is indeed a time of grief and sadness.  I am sorry about your cat's sudden death which is both a shock and a sorrowful event.
You should get another cat to replace your lost one as soon as you can.  Cats need a loving home and they usually respond well to good music.
Kind regards,
Robert.

is it a good thing to 'replace' a pet?
surely pets that you grow to love as individuals are irreplacable.

and are you sure animals like music? i dont think they do at all.

anyway i love all animals(except bugs) and im always sad when one dies, so you have my sympathies too.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  It's hard to lose a pet that you love dearly. You have my sympathies and prayers.

I do think that some animals must love music...I have a Miniature Chihuahua (Cujo)...he usually sits right up on the bench with me while I practice. Sometimes I think he's the "only" one in the house who does like it.  ;DSometimes when I stop, he'll whine until I start to play again....and if I miss a day, he'll go to the piano and bark. I'm serious. He doesn't seem to like LOUD "rock" type music but loves piano.  I think possibly it is soothing for him.

Shag :)
ps...I hate bugs too! ESPECIALLY spiders!

It is not difficult to see if an animal is responding pleasurably to sounds.  My cat used to enjoy listening to the piano and  in particular, he loved chamber music because of the sound of the string instruments, especially the violin.  He was not quite so communicative as Shagdac's little dog but it was quite obvious through his affectionate greeting of the visiting players and his relaxed enjoyment of the practice session that he was a cat with developed musical tastes.
Kind regards,
Robert.

I am a big lover for cats too, and dogs alike.
I proudly own a male Siberian Husky dog.
Meow happily, and have eternal fun in the Rainbow Bridge, Ziffy . . .;)

My cat would have to be one of my best friends. She never complains, doesn't argue, seems intelligent, is fun and doesn't hold grudges.

If only we could learn just a little from ouer cats. :D

My cat hated music.... mainly because she liked to sleep inside the piano when I wasnt there to shoo her, and would get a nasty surprise if I started playing without checking first... on the other hand, my turtle LOVES Bach, Haydn, Scarlatti and Mozart. Whenever I practice those she pops her head out of the water and becomes real active (most of the day she just lies there). When I play Prokovieff, she hides under a rock in her shell.
For a good laugh, check out my posts in the audition room, and tell me exactly how terrible they are :)
