How do you play this well-known Bach prelude?
on: December 23, 2007, 03:28:51 AM
I'm asking about the right hand fingering at the beginning of Prelude in D (Nš4 from "Six Little Preludes"). I'm not quite sure about all those 1-1-1-1-1... in the tenor voice, and all of the 2-2-2-2-2... in the alto voice. But this is the only logical fingering I could come up with. That's why I'd like to know how you play it.

The only changes I might suggest are 3-2 for 2-2 in mm. 4 , 5 and 6, just like you had in m.3. But if you're not thinking of playing those notes staccato, you might not need that. I would suggest, for those four bars, being consistent -- either 3-2 or 2-2 for all of them. On your RH1 fingerings -- they're the most logical, and you often have to do this sort of thing with JSB.
