To start playing Schumann
on: October 04, 2002, 11:55:30 AM
It's a little odd but I've never played Schumann. I think it's time to fill this gap, so what do you suggest to start with?
Keep in mind that my skills are not so great, I suppose to be skilful as much as a 3th year's student, more or less... To give you an idea of my abilities I'm working on Bach's 2-part Inventions and Mozart's K331 sonata (which I feel rather hard in some points) and I would like to start playing Schumann with something of the same difficulty, but useful to improve my tecnique as well.
Any suggestion are welcome!

Hello
Well yes the K331 is indeed a challenge sometimes. In our country it is set at degree level which is equilivant to playing the hardest Haydn or Beethoven sonatas.
If you would like something interpretively challening but technically very easy you can try the Schumann Kinderszenen.
