How do those new delicious button thingies work?
on: January 13, 2008, 01:11:43 AM
I see them down there.  They're new.  How do they work?  What are they for?  What do you do with them?

I have an idea, but I need to spelled out.  :P

I didn't know, but then I clicked on!. It seems that it adds a page bookmark to whatever site button you click on!

Handy, though I still use favourites in IE if I bookmark anything.

I think it's something to do with those news sites where people kind of vote on news stories or threads.  I don't know how they work though.

digg.com is one though.

It may be different for every button. Google wanted me to add it to favourites, but the Digg button wanted me to log in to Digg. I don't know what for though.

Perhaps this is a good time for the moderator to jump in and give us a proper answer to this question. I'm not going to click on buttons I don't understand. When they added these, did they think to send a message to members explaining them (if they did and I missed it, I apologize). And while we're on the subject, what happened to the quick page up and down buttons - now I have to scroll down to the bottom of the pages and back up - annoying.  I tried to send a message to the moderator but when I click on contact (Pianostreet.com/contact.php etc.)  all I get is the mailing address in Stockholm and the phone number - no screen to type in a message. What's going on??

I have an idea, but I need to spelled out.  :P

These are for "Social Bookmarking" - a phenomenon which, together with Blogs, RSS, Wikis, Podcasts etc forms what is usually refered to as Web 2.0.
To get a short explanation, click the little "ADD TO" text to the left of the row of icons.

If you are not yet using any social bookmarking site it might be time to get started, but don't get overwhelmed by the many different sites/services. Start off with one of the most common, for exampe https://del.icio.us

And while we're on the subject, what happened to the quick page up and down buttons - now I have to scroll down to the bottom of the pages and back up - annoying.

We removed them because we thought no one was using them... :-[
("Page Up/Down" on the keyboard does pretty much the same thing.)
But if you used them we will of course put them back!

I tried to send a message to the moderator but when I click on contact (Pianostreet.com/contact.php etc.)  all I get is the mailing address in Stockholm and the phone number - no screen to type in a message. What's going on??

The contact form was removed some time ago because of problems with spam and the problem that many users asked questions but were not leaving a correct email addess for replies.

Anyway, you are always welcome to give us a call or visit our office if you happen to drop by Stockholm but why not send us an email? The email address actually appears twice on the www.pianostreet.com/contact.php page (to make sure no one is missing it.)  :)

We have also recently added a support chat on the "my account"  and "sign up" pages which you can use to contact us if email is not your prefered choice.
