Dressing for the auditons...
on: January 13, 2008, 07:30:07 PM
Do you think the formal attire is required...or is it alright to dress casually as long as it looks clean and neat? I think, in many career fairs they recommend the business casual which is more restricted than ordinary dressing but less than business suits...but I don't know what the common practices are in college auditions...

Smart!!!! It's really important! Go smart!

My teacher (at a conservartoire) said he hates it when people don't dress smartly for exams, auditions etc...

It never hurts to dress up, whether it's a suit or business casul.  It will say you're serious.

you should'nt wear casual clothes ecpecially jeans.

it's better to wear black pants and a nice, neat top

when I audition or compete I always wear formal clothes, the judges like it when people do that

If I was to decide what to wear, I would go with a nice black skirt or pair of black pants (good pants, not horrible ones), and a shirt, I don't know what colour, but nothing too bright, like hot pink or anyhing flouro, I would probably wear a white shirt, a light, pastel coloured shirt, or a dark shirt, such as purple or dark blue.

why not black and white? (black and a pastel is also a good idea)

I did say black and white, but in my opinion it is a little too plain.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
