If you want to see a really astounding child prodigy, check out this 8-year old (now a teen) playing Liszt's Concert Etude, "La Leggierezza".

I don't watch these clips anymore.  It makes one want to stop playing the piano.

Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

My response to this (and similar) is it just goes to show what children are capable of if we make an attempt to inspire them early in life rather than fill them with drugs, stuff them with junk food, allow them to eat alone in front of a TV, and expect them to magically grow into productive adults.

Ein leiser Ton gezogen

That, preceeded by 'Mary had a little lamb', would scar the audience for life  ;D

The other reason this doesn't scare me is that at least she chose to play a decent, understanted work that really shows her versatility and talent at its best - not like most child prodigy videos where they play some horrendously advanced war-horse just to show off--those are the ones that scare me.

Hello to everyone
Why you all have this approach towards those children? Ok they are talented, very much etc. But this why you play piano or any instrument? To be able to play one day or even overnight, super fast and extremely difficult pieces? I hope not. Making nice music it does not involve these elements. There are so many realy beautiful pieces  that they do required  these skills, just a little bit of our soul and a level of play that most "mortals"  could achieve if want to.
