Easy, little melodies that the kids LOVE
on: January 31, 2008, 01:27:23 PM
Looking at the thread about Marc-Hamelin's improv on the Nokia tune, it reminds me of how much the kids love playing little melodies that they know, and for beginners it can be a real hook.

All those cell phone ringtones would be great--they've heard those little melodies more than most folk songs.

Good idea for teaching?  Which ringtones are the most common? (wish I had them all written out already)

What other little melodies are good?

How about the Windows start up sound or any major movie company jingle. Computer game music like Zelda (Zelda medley played on piano has about 1 million more views on youtube then Martha Argerichs Rach 3 ie), Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy. In my opinion computer game music is an understimated way to raise interest for classical music and composers .

Kids tend to really like most tunes connected with video games; Mario Bros., etc...
